HCloud Privacy Policy

HCloud Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 July 2026

HCloud ("the app", "we", "us") is a photo backup app developed by GBTechReviews. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled. In brief: HCloud has no servers of its own, and your photos are copied directly to your own Google Drive. We never receive, store, or see them.

What the app does

HCloud lets you back up photos, videos and files you choose from your device to your own Google Drive or Google Photos account. You select them using your device's standard picker, and the app uploads them directly to your own account.

Information the app uses

Your photos. Only the photos you specifically select are uploaded, and they go directly from your device to your own Google Drive. HCloud does not operate any servers, so we never receive, store, or have access to your photos.

Your Google account connection. When you connect Google Drive, Google provides the app with an access token so it can upload files to your Drive. This token is stored only on your device. We do not transmit it anywhere and do not have access to it. The app requests only the drive.file permission, which limits it strictly to files it creates in your Drive. It cannot see or access any of your other Drive files. If you back up to Google Photos, the app additionally requests the Google Photos permissions needed to add items to your library and to list only the items HCloud itself has added. It cannot see, change, or delete anything else in your Google Photos library.

App settings stored on your device. The app saves a small amount of information locally on your phone so it can work properly. This includes your chosen theme and appearance, the number of photos you have backed up, the time of your last backup, a local index of the dates of your backed-up photos so the optional "On this day" reminders can work, and your notification preferences. This information never leaves your device.

What we do not do

Permissions the app requests

Google user data

HCloud's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The app uses Google Drive and Google Photos access solely to upload the items you choose to your own account, and to list the backups it has made for you.

Removing access and deleting data

You can disconnect Google Drive at any time from within the app. This removes the stored access token from your device. You can also revoke the app's access to your Google account at any time by visiting myaccount.google.com/permissions. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored settings. Photos already uploaded to your Google Drive will remain in your Drive and are managed by you, like any other file stored there.

Children's privacy

HCloud is not directed at children under 13, or the relevant minimum age in their country or region, and does not knowingly collect information from them.
